    Using UV Maps¶ Sooner or later, you may want to use an image texture on your model. The UV Editor allows you to map textures directly to the mesh faces. The 3D Viewport shows you the object being textured. If you set the 3D Viewport into Textured viewport shading, you will immediately see any changes made in the UV Editor, and vice versa.

      The default tools for UV editing in Blender seem severely lacking. Magic UV also doesn't really seem to add anything useful. I'm currently trying to fix up meshes with broken UV's which requires a lot of stitching UV's in the UV editor. Sometimes on a face by face basis. The default tools don't help with this at all.
